How can I help my child be ready to read? Do I need to buy computer programs or educational videos?
Kids need to be exposed to a wide range of words early in life to develop strong language skills for reading, writing, and thinking. Some research shows that children learn best through face-to-face time, not through tapes, television, or video. Children also need that emotional connection. So limit your child’s screen time—1 hour a day for over 2 years is the recommendation—talk to and with your child throughout the day, and read, read, read together!
